Tracy Dowd, Owner & Trainer

In the beginning

Tracy was first introduced to horses at age 8 in campfire, and was hooked right away.  She cleaned stalls to earn lessons for the next 4 years, and on her 12th birthday she got her first horse-a morgan gelding named Royal.  She participated in 4H with Royal, and during her last year, won the western equitation high point, saddle seat equitation high point, showmanship high point, horse psychology high point, and senior high point.

In high school, she was the 4H champion horse judge for the state of Oregon, a member of the state champion horse bowl team, and state championship judging teams.  She placed top ten at nationals in judging her sophomore year in high school.

In her spare time she gamed friend’s ponies, showed welsh ponies, and began a part time training career working and showing ponies for clients.

Gaming & Rodeo

Tracy wanted a change of pace from the intensity of the show scene, so she decided to go against the timer and started barrel racing again.

At age 19 she was the Philomath Frolic Rodeo Queen, St. Paul rodeo princess at age 21, and was the first runner up for Miss Rodeo Oregon.

She has won buckles, thousands of dollars, and had her best rodeo season ever while pregnant with her daughter Kylee.  Needless to say she didn’t get to finish the season that year!

Fitting and Showing Halter Horses

Tracy has shown many Halter horses as well.  Below is a few that she fit and showed to many wins.

Parkwest Farm Boarding & Training

In 1999 Tracy purchased her current home, and Parkwest Farm moved north to Camas, WA.  She continued to work and give lessons on the side, but after becoming a new Mom to Kylee Rae in 2006, she quit her full time job and started training horses full time to be home with her daughter and do what she loved.  Parkwest Farm has become a family business for Tracy.  You will often find her in the barn with her husband Jonhenri and daughter Kylee all excercising their horses together.

Today Tracy gives lessons to a wide range of ages and disciplines.  Her current student’s interests include: Gaming, equitation, English, huntseat, saddle seat, western, driving, showmanship, and just basic trail riding and horsemanship skills.
